Every week the same question lands in our live chat: “what is the dollar rate today, and why does my USDT or Payoneer payout not match it?” This updаte looks at the figures for the first week of October 2026 and explains the three dollar rates that matter to anyone converting online earnings to rupees.

The numbers this week

Rate Figure at time of writing What it is
Interbank USD/PKR (reference) about PKR 276.8 The mid-rate banks use among themselves; published daily, no retail margin
S2Swap USDT sell rate PKR 283 per USDT What S2Swap pays per USDT to JazzCash, EasyPaisa or bank; refreshed from the live board
Digital-dollar gap about PKR 6, around 2% USDT sell rate minus interbank; the “price” of a dollar that moves in minutes on a weekend

Figures were read from our live rate pages on 4 October 2026 and will have moved by the time you read this. The current values are always on USD to PKR today and USDT to PKR rate.

Three dollar rates, one rupee

  • Interbank is the benchmark you see in the news. Nobody converting USD 500 receives it; it is the midpoint between what banks buy and sell to each other.
  • Bank and remittance rates sit below interbank for anyone receiving dollars: the bank or app keeps the difference as its margin. Platforms such as Upwork and Payoneer also convert at their own rate when they pay PKR directly, typically a few rupees per dollar under interbank.
  • Digital dollar (USDT) trades on its own supply and demand in Pakistan. In recent weeks it has sat a little above interbank, which is why selling USDT can pay more rupees per dollar than a bank conversion, and why buying USDT costs more than the interbank figure suggests.

What changed in September and early October

The interbank rate stayed in a narrow band through September, and the digital-dollar premium stayed close to the 2% mark through the first days of October. For freelancers, that means the choice between a direct PKR withdrawal and holding dollars (Payoneer or USDT) comes down to the margin each route charges rather than to timing the market. We compare those margins route by route in Upwork withdrawals in Pakistan and Payoneer fees in Pakistan.

How to read the S2Swap rate

Our rate pages show two prices for USDT: the sell price (you send USDT, we pay PKR) and the buy price (you pay PKR, we send USDT). The difference is the spread, and it is the only margin on the route; there is no separate percentage added at checkout. The order form shows the exact PKR or USDT before you confirm, and the rate is held for the order window. Timings and the rest of the rules are on fees and rates explained.

Practical takeaways this week

  • If you receive dollars, compare the final rupees from each route for your amount rather than the headline rate.
  • If you buy USDT to send abroad or trade, expect to pay above interbank; the premium is the cost of instant settlement.
  • Keep wallet limits in mind before a larger payout: JazzCash and EasyPaisa limits.

We will post this comparison at the start of each month. Live rates refresh automatically on the rate pages between posts.
