USDT (Tether) is the same dollar-pegged token on every blockchain it is issued on, but each blockchain is a separate ledger. Choosing the network is the single most important decision before you send or receive USDT — more important than the amount — because USDT sent on one network cannot be received by an address on another. This guide covers the seven networks S2Swap currently supports for USDT, what their addresses look like, how to tell them apart, and how to decide which one to use for an exchange to or from Pakistani Rupees. The same rules apply to USDC, which S2Swap supports on four of these networks.
What a USDT network is
Tether issues USDT on many blockchains. “USDT TRC20” is USDT recorded on the Tron blockchain; “USDT ERC20” is USDT recorded on Ethereum; “USDT BEP20” is USDT on BNB Smart Chain, and so on. A wallet address belongs to one blockchain. When you withdraw USDT from an exchange, the exchange asks which network to use, and it will send the tokens on that network to the address you give — whether or not the address you gave was meant for that network.
Why the network matters
- A transfer on the wrong network does not “bounce”. The tokens are recorded on a ledger where the receiving party may have no key, and recovery is often impossible.
- Every S2Swap USDT direction is tied to one network. The order page for “USDT TRC20 to Jazz Cash” shows a TRC20 receiving address and expects a TRC20 transfer; nothing else is matched to that order.
- Network fees are paid in the network’s own coin (TRX, ETH, BNB, SOL, TON, POL) and are set by the network, not by S2Swap. They change with congestion, so this guide does not quote them.
TRC20 (Tron)
Address format: starts with T, 34 characters. TRC20 is the most widely supported USDT network among Pakistani users, local exchanges and wallets such as Trust Wallet and TronLink, and it is the network with the most S2Swap routes (Jazz Cash, EasyPaisa and bank transfer in both directions, plus USDT TRC20 to PayPal and Wise). A TRC20 address is visibly different from a 0x… address, which makes TRC20 the easiest network to verify by eye. Commercial page: Tether TRC20 in Pakistan.
ERC20 (Ethereum)
Address format: starts with 0x, 42 characters. ERC20 is the choice when your USDT sits in an Ethereum-native wallet such as MetaMask or is paid to you on Ethereum. Transfers on Ethereum consume gas paid in ETH, so a wallet that holds only USDT and no ETH cannot send. Commercial page: Tether ERC20 in Pakistan.
BEP20 (BNB Smart Chain)
Address format: 0x, 42 characters — identical in appearance to ERC20. Binance withdrawals often default to BEP20, and gas is paid in BNB. Because the address looks the same as an Ethereum address, a BEP20 transfer sent to an address that the receiver only monitors on Ethereum (or vice versa) is the most common wrong-network mistake we see. Read the network label on the withdrawal form, not the address. Commercial page: Tether BEP20 in Pakistan.
Other supported networks: Solana, TON, Polygon, Arbitrum
- Solana: address is a Base58 string of 32–44 characters with no
0xorTprefix; wallets such as Phantom and Solflare. A Solana USDT address will not accept TRC20, ERC20 or BEP20 transfers. Routes: Jazz Cash, EasyPaisa and bank transfer in both directions, and USDT Solana to PayPal. - TON: user-friendly addresses start with
EQorUQ; used by Telegram-linked wallets. Some TON deposits require a memo/tag in addition to the address — if the order page or your receiving wallet shows one, it must be included exactly. Routes: the three PKR rails both ways, and USDT TON to PayPal. - Polygon:
0xaddress (same format as ERC20 and BEP20), gas paid in POL. Routes: the three PKR rails both ways. - Arbitrum: Ethereum layer-2,
0xaddress, gas paid in ETH on Arbitrum. Routes: the three PKR rails both ways.
Four networks — ERC20, BEP20, Polygon and Arbitrum — share the 0x address format. The address alone never tells you which of the four a transfer is on.
Wallet and exchange compatibility
Before you buy USDT, open the deposit page of the wallet or exchange that will receive it and read the list of networks it accepts for USDT. Choose the S2Swap route for one of those networks. Before you sell USDT, open the withdrawal page of the wallet or exchange the USDT is in and set the network to the one named in your S2Swap order. Exchanges remember the last network used and will happily send on it again — check the selector every time.
Wrong-network risk
- Selling USDT to S2Swap on a different network than the order names: the transfer is not matched to the order and may not be recoverable.
- Buying USDT and giving an address for a network your wallet does not support: the tokens arrive on a ledger your wallet does not show.
- Pasting a
T…address into a form expecting0x…(or vice versa) is usually rejected by the form. Pasting a0xaddress under the wrong0xnetwork is not rejected — this is the case to be careful about. - Sending from an exchange that batches withdrawals: the exchange order is only matched once the network confirms the transfer; a delay on the exchange side is not a delay on S2Swap’s side.
Memo / tag requirements
TRC20, ERC20, BEP20, Polygon, Arbitrum and Solana transfers of USDT use the address only. TON is the network where a memo or tag may be required by the receiving side. If a memo field is shown for your transfer, leave it empty only when the order page or the receiving wallet says it is not needed; otherwise copy it exactly.
Network selection checklist
- Where is the USDT now (selling) or where should it go (buying)? Open that wallet or exchange.
- Read its supported-network list for USDT deposits or withdrawals.
- Pick the S2Swap route for that network — the network is in the route name and on the order page.
- When copying an address, compare the first and last four characters after pasting.
- If the address starts with
0x, read the network label a second time. - For TON, check whether a memo is required.
- Send the full amount in one transfer on that network, then mark the order as paid.
Which USDT network should you use?
- You already hold USDT: use the network it is on. Moving it between networks first adds a step and a fee.
- You are buying USDT for an exchange account: use a network that exchange lists for USDT deposits; TRC20 is listed by nearly all of them, which is why it is the most common choice for PKR to USDT in Pakistan. This is a compatibility observation, not a fee or speed claim.
- You are buying USDT for MetaMask or another Ethereum-style wallet: ERC20, BEP20, Polygon or Arbitrum — whichever the wallet is configured for; the wallet’s active network setting decides what it will show.
- You are paid in USDT on Solana or TON: sell on that network directly; S2Swap has PKR routes for both.
No network is “always cheapest” or “always fastest”: fees and confirmation times depend on each network’s load at the moment you send. The rate S2Swap shows is the same for a given PKR rail across networks only when the rate data says so — check the route you are actually using.

Frequently asked questions
I sent USDT on the wrong network. What now? Do not create a second order. Send the order ID, the transaction hash and the network you actually used through the contact form. Whether anything can be recovered depends on the networks involved; it is not guaranteed.
Is the rate different per network? Each route has its own rate line in the table above and on its order form; compare them there rather than assuming.
Can I change the network after placing an order? No — the order is tied to the network in its name. Let the order expire and create a new one on the correct route.
Do I pay the network fee? When you send USDT to S2Swap, the fee for that transfer is charged by the network from your wallet, in the network’s coin. When S2Swap sends USDT to you, the amount you receive is the amount shown on the confirmation screen.
Which network does S2Swap recommend? The one your wallet or exchange supports. If more than one is supported, most Pakistani users choose TRC20 because it is the most widely accepted; that is the extent of the recommendation.
